A different category of hosting
Cloudways adds a managed hosting layer to cloud infrastructure. The selected DigitalOcean Basic configurations suit a different buying decision from a bundled shared-hosting account: you choose a server-sized resource allowance and consider the applications it must support. We distinguish this category in the filters instead of presenting every product as interchangeable.
The two configurations in this comparison
The 1 GB RAM option lists one vCPU, 25 GB storage and 1 TB transfer. The 2 GB RAM option lists one vCPU, 50 GB storage and 2 TB transfer. Their monthly reference rates are shown directly from the catalogue in the table below. These figures describe selected configurations, not measured capacity for a particular shop or visitor count. Multiple sites share the same finite resources.
Budget beyond the base server
Cloudways uses usage-based billing. We therefore do not invent a separate promotional renewal rate. Offsite backup storage, email services, excess usage and other optional services can increase the final bill. The first website migration is included, but that should not be read as unlimited free migrations. Review the chosen infrastructure, location and optional services before starting.
Our practical conclusion
Shortlist Cloudways if a managed cloud environment is a deliberate requirement and you are comfortable choosing resources. For a small brochure site needing one simple hosting-and-email package, compare the bundled web-hosting alternatives too. Our editorial analysis does not replace sizing advice and contains no hands-on speed benchmark. Plan future capacity around your application rather than an unlimited-sites label.
Which server size should you start with?
The larger selected DigitalOcean configuration increases RAM and storage, but does not double every parameter: both selected configurations list one vCPU. Choose based on application requirements and observed resource use, not an invented visitor capacity. We cannot infer how many simultaneous users your application will support from RAM alone.
When shared hosting is a more relevant comparison
If you need a small website and bundled email rather than a managed cloud server, compare a web-hosting package such as Namecheap. Hostinger also has a managed Cloud Startup variant, but its prepaid term differs from Cloudways usage billing. Include backup storage, email and other optional services in your decision. The base reference price is not a quotation for the complete configuration or a guarantee of an unchanged bill.
What stands out
- Explicit cloud resource configurations
- Usage-based billing rather than a long prepaid promotion
- First website migration included
What to check
- Email and backup storage can cost extra
- Applications share finite server resources
- Not directly equivalent to bundled shared hosting
Questions about Cloudways
Is email included in these server prices?
No. Budget separately for the email service you choose.
Is the listed monthly amount a fixed all-inclusive bill?
No. It is a configuration reference; usage, backups and other extras can change the final bill.
Does twice the RAM mean twice the website capacity?
Not necessarily. Applications differ, and the two selected configurations both list one vCPU. Choose resources using application requirements and actual measurements.
